Hardwood floor installation for Stuart and Martin County homes
Face of Wood started in 2007 as a family flooring company installing hardwood, engineered and laminate floors. Flooring is still the core of the business. Our showroom on NW Federal Hwy in Stuart has hardwood samples you can walk through in person, and our in-house designer can help you choose species, plank width, stain color and finish before anything is ordered.
We handle the full job: measuring, removing old carpet, tile or wood, preparing the subfloor, installing the new floor, and finishing baseboards, thresholds and stair transitions.
Types of wood flooring we install
- Solid hardwood. Milled from a single piece of wood and nailed to a wood subfloor. It can be sanded and refinished many times over its life.
- Engineered hardwood. A real wood top layer bonded to a layered core. It moves less with humidity, so it is the usual choice over concrete slabs and in condos.
- Hardwood stairs. Treads, risers and nosing made to match the new floor.
- Refinishing existing hardwood. Sanding, staining and recoating floors that are worn but still sound.
If wood is not the right fit for a room, we also install luxury vinyl plank and laminate.
Installing hardwood in South Florida humidity
Most homes in Stuart, Palm City, Jupiter and Port St. Lucie are built on concrete slabs, and indoor humidity swings with the A/C. Wood expands and shrinks with moisture, so installation details matter more here than in drier climates. A proper installation over a slab includes:
- Testing the slab for moisture before any flooring is laid
- Letting the flooring acclimate inside the home before installation
- Using engineered wood or a glue-down method over concrete when nail-down solid wood is not practical
- Leaving expansion space at walls, doorways and fixed cabinets
- Keeping the A/C running after installation so humidity stays steady
Hardwood in condos
Many condo associations in Martin and Palm Beach Counties require written approval and a sound-control underlayment before hard flooring goes in. We can help you gather the product and underlayment specifications your association asks for, so approval does not hold up the job.

What customers say
“Carlos and the team really exceeded our expectations with the installation of our gorgeous new wood floors. We were defeated after a bad refinishing job left our floors looking, feeling and smelling awful! Thankfully we found Face of Wood and the full process from initial call to finished product was smooth and effortless.”

Hardwood flooring questions
How much does hardwood flooring installation cost in Stuart?
It depends on the species, plank width, solid versus engineered, how much old flooring has to come out and how much subfloor prep is needed. We give you a written quote after measuring the space on site.
Can hardwood be installed over a concrete slab?
Yes. Engineered hardwood can be glued down or floated over a slab with a moisture barrier. Solid hardwood usually needs a plywood subfloor installed first.
How long does installation take?
It depends on square footage, demolition and subfloor work. Your quote includes a timeline so you can plan around it.
Do you work outside Stuart?
Yes. We are licensed in Martin, St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Indian River, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, with recent projects in Stuart, Jupiter and Juno Beach. See our service area.
